Prof. Liang Song Ming

Prof. Liang Song Ming, who was born in 1935, has over 55 years’ experience in Traditional Chinese medicine. During his tenure with Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine, he was the Head and Doctor-in-charge of Institute of Chinese Medicine Formulae from 1978 to 1984, the Executive Director of Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine from1984 to 1996, and the Dean of School of Chinese Medicine from 1996 to 1999 respectively. Since 1999, Prof. Liang has been the Guest professor of School of Chinese Medicine in The Chinese University of Hong Kong. He is currently the Emeritus Visiting Professor of Integrative Medical Centre in The Chinese university of Hong Kong, the Chief Professor and doctoral supervisor of Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine. Prof. Liang was appointed as the President of Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine as well as the leader of Chinese Medicine Team in Health Department in Guangdong Province. He is the Executive Officer who is responsible for designing teaching materials of national higher education in Traditional Chinese Medicine. He is also the part-time professor of Sun Yat-sen University.

Prof. Liang is entitled as an expert for national outstanding contributions and granted special subsidy from the State Council in China. Besides, he is a member of national and Guangdong province evaluation committee for new drug development, a member of national review committee for the traditional Chinese medicine preservation and protection, and a member of national review committee for narcotic respectively. He is also a team member of Development of Specialist in Traditional Chinese Medicine.

In 1957, Prof. Liang received his bachelor degree from School of Pharmacology, Beijing Medical University. In 1961, he got his master degree of Chinese medicine at Beijing University of Chinese Medicine.
